Crashes ... poor customer support, what a combo December 31, 2008 The software crashes whenever I try to create a slideshow larger than 79 photos. I can't get through to Roxio support. They direct you to user forums where the only suggestion is a "Clean Install" which comes with the following guidance: It takes some time (1 hour?)... It is tedious (Regedit)... It can create a problem if you don't follow the instructions... What?!?!? I have never seen a product like this.
Able to keep up with new technology and formats December 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Now I'm dealing with HD more and more so I got version 2009 for Xmas. The tools do a good job of letting me create some unique and creative home videos. I did get a good feel for Videowave by using ver. 9 so it wasn't completely new. Newbies will probably need more time to learn it well. Still I'm happy with the new effects. The HD quality menu styles are attractive. The music arena is much better too. It's easier to add music and sound to both the photo slideshows and videos. I've been thinking of adding a blu-ray burner but I'm not liking the prices. Until I upgrade creator can write HD, and even BD disks on my older writers. I can keep up with the latest technology even though I don't have all the latest hardware.
Simple installation, most programs relatively simple to use December 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My old EMC8 is way past its life so with my new devices and more videos/photos to deal with I wanted the upgrade to 2009. I also upgraded my desktop to Vista and 8 doesn't work with it well. The 2009 suite certainly seems like it was made for Vista since it installed with no muss, no fuss. Although I'm far from an expert when it comes to the new programs, I can tell that more tools were added. PhotoSuite surpasses the one that came on my pc free. It does more than resize, recolor, and crop. There is the layering system which makes it easier to try more edgy effects since its easy to discard layers and keep the others. It has batch resizing too. Media Importer has added a lot of new devices; PSP, iPhone, iPod, many cellphones, AVCHD camcorder. Dealing with videos is streamlined as the program can autoformat for each device. Disk Options: more formats, more compression, HD and BD on standard disks made with normal writers. Internet options: Photo storage and slideshow online creation I hear youtube may have to take down videos with copyrighted music from Warner so I'm now happy to see a custom music program.
Fatness December 27, 2008 Unfortunently, they seem to follow Vista with the fatness and wasted features. I doubt that many people will use the photo, the media manager and other bloated features which are 'just installed' by default. The new interface is nice and a bit easier than 9 or 10, but 1.3 Gb of programming? More than my SQL Server or and almost as large as Visual Studio?????
Creator 2009 and Vista Ultimate don't mix December 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reinstalling the Creator 2009 software three times, I give up. First time it didn't work I uninstalled it and made sure all hardware and software/OS was up to date. A second reinstall resulted in the same problem. I tried it a third time just for good measure. This time IE stopped working. Many hours wasted on this one.
