Refurbished for the win! January 7, 2009 The Magellan Maestro 4250 refurbished is an excellent GPS for the money. There were no cosmetic defects. The power-on sequence, as mentioned in other reviews can be flakey once in a while but does not really detract from the unit's performance, in my opinion. This is simply a software glitch.
Price is right January 7, 2009 I'm pleased with my purchase so far, however, and for the price, it's great.
First the good; The voice instructions are clear and easy to understand. The screen is easy to see. The price was right. Map overview of travel is particularly helpful. Gives plenty of advance notice about pending turns and dings when action is required.
Confusing issue: Gives distance to POI exits without explaining what the distance is for, at least that's what we think it's giving...
The bad: Maps aren't really up to date Doesn't automatically recalculate its position when turned off and on. Navigation between screens is not very intuitive after leaving the trip screens and trying to return to the same screen.
Magellan 4250 GPS January 7, 2009 I have not had my GPS long enough to have used it. I have only played with it so I could get use to how it works. However, as I play with it and practiced on it I realize that it does everything I want it to do.
great product at great price January 7, 2009 good product, works as described.
Cons - a little slow in searching for POIs.
Maggie is wonderful! January 7, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My fiance has even commented several times about how I spend more time playing with Maggie than talking with her in the truck(apparently, the Magellan Maestro is my "other girlfriend" Maggie). It's also fun trying to find out other words that make it think you've called it's name Magellan. "Pickin' cotton" seems to call her up as much as "Magellan."
