Great Little Camera! December 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a D-50. I positively loved it. Nice and small, Convienient to use, Light weight. Takes excellent pictures. My wife comandeered it! Finally, after two years, I wised up. I bought her the D-60 and I get the D-50! The D-60 is everything the D-50 is and smaller, lighter, quieter and more megapixels! I love the VR Lenses. The image quality is excellent. She shoots mainly nature photographs and the 70-300mm VR does a fantastic job "wing shooting" passing birds. (See user "photophun" at eyefetch for examples). I had to give it to her before Christmas so she could test it out on our Christmas cruise. It passed the test with flying colors, giving great images of Mexico, a hand held moon shot from the deck of a moving ship, frigate birds (but NO flying fish!) Excellent grab and go kind of camera. Typical outstanding Nikon image quality and Optics. I am looking for an excuse to buy one for ME!
Great starting SLR from a great Camera company! December 27, 2008 I purchased this camera for my gf for christmas and all I can say is WOW! It is a great camera with great possibilities. It is easy to use and understand, but I strongly recommend this camera for someone that wants to take their photography to the next level away from Point-n-shoot.
great camera to get back to slr photography December 24, 2008 I purchased my last slr in the late 70's and for several years took many slides and filled many slide carousels. For the past 20 years or so, I've enjoyed taking film and later digital photos on simpler cameras. I purchased the D60 about a month ago, and would recommend it to anyone getting back into "real" photography. It enables full manual control, aperture and shutter speed preferences plus a large and easily accessible menu of standardized photo setups for portraits, landscapes, close-ups, etc. It also has a full automatic mode. I like taking candid shots and portraits, and am very pleased with the color fidelity and lack of red-eye (no correction needed yet!). I'm also dabbling with manual shots - e.g. high ISO, slower shutter, etc. The VR lens is also a great help.

A fantastic camera for entering the world of slr. Great images - easy to use. Fabulous price.
Great Camera! December 16, 2008 Great camera. I love the options on this camera. Great for a beginner and complicated enough for an intermediate user also. Highly recommended!
