Not as fast as the Lexar December 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading good recommendations of Delkin memory cards, I decided to spring for this 4GB 150X SDHC. And I have to agree with the reviewer that stated that it isn't as fast as advertised.
I tested both the Lexar 4GB SHDC 133X (Lexar SD4GB-133-381 4GB Professional 133x Secure Digital) and the Delkin in burst mode on my Panasonic FZ28 -- after setting the camera to "unlimited", meaning it would shoot in burst mode until the memory card was full. Although the Panasonic's burst mode is nowhere as fast as the Nikon D90's or a Canon dSLR's, I thought this would make for a fair comparison: I photographed the same subject, with the same camera settings, just switching the cards around and counting.
The Delkin card began slowing down on the 8th shot, while the Lexar was still going at the same rate after 13 shots. The decrease in speed is due to data transfer slowing down because it is unable to keep up with the shutter speed -- that is, it is directly related to the speed of the card itself. Thus, the Delkin is a slower card than the Lexar, even though the Delkin states "150X" and the Lexar, "133X".
When it comes to image transfer into the computer, I didn't see a noticeable difference. Maybe I'll need a chronograph the next time around! But anyway I'll stick to the Lexar SDHC cards from now on.
Reliable, but not 150x speed December 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These cards seem to be reliable, but compared to my 4GB Sandisk Ultra III, and Lexar 133x, they are nowhere near as fast. In fact, I wonder how Delkin came up with the 150x speed designation, because, when firing rapidly with a Nikon D90, these cards perform like the ordinary Class 6 SDHC cards I have, and they slow down far more quickly than the Lexar and Sandisk versions. Disappointing, but I guess you get what you pay for, and the Lexar and Sandisk 133x cards are about twice as expensive. Thought we had a find here, but it's not a great bargain, just a highly exaggerated speed rating!
Very fast and reliable card October 16, 2008 Very fast and reliable card. Does not slow down my Canon SLR at all, even during bursts. This is a 150X card, unlike a lot of the Class 6 cards. Not all Class 6 are alike, as you only have to be able to sustain 6MB/s to be rated class 6. This card can do up to 22MB/s max. Delkin is a very reliable brand, and I am surprised they are not as popular as other brands. This is easily the equal of the Sandisk Ultra series. Gets a 5 star rating from me.
